INTRO AND DESCRIPTION The products that Arbin Instruments offers has many different unique features that are highly complex. Sales engineers, using their engineering skills, assist customers in determining which products and/or services provided by Arbin Instruments best suits their needs. Sales engineers often work with the customer and along with the production as well as research and development departments to determine how products and services could be designed or modified to the customers needs. They also may advise the customer on how to best utilize the products and/or services being provided. Selling is an important part of the position. Sales engineers use their technical skills to demonstrate to potential customers how and why the products and/or services Arbin Instruments are selling is the best fit. Often, there may not be a directly competitive product. In these cases, the job of the sales engineer is to demonstrate to the customer the usefulness of the product and/or service will benefit the customer. For example, how much money new equipment would save the customers testing program or improve quality of their products. Most sales engineers have a bachelors degree in engineering and some have previous work experience in an engineering specialty. Engineers apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to technical problems. Many of the job duties of sales engineers are similar to those of other sales persons. They must interest the client in purchasing their products. They must work with Arbins marketing and technical departments to pursue the potential sale. It may also require that the sales engineer work with other engineers and the research and development team who concentrate on the technical aspect of the job. In addition to maintaining current clients and attracting prospects, sales engineers help clients solve problems that may arise when the product is installed, and may continue to serve as a liaison between the client and the company. In addition, using their familiarity with client needs, sales engineers help identify and develop new products. RESPONSIBILITIES The Sales Engineer will function as an engineering resource between customers and Arbin Instruments. The sales engineer will be responsible for the following areas: Sales contact: Sales Engineers will develop prospects and follow up on inquiries from the field, sales calls, sending technical correspondence to customers, demonstrate products and answering technical questions. They will search for new customers that could benefit from company products. A sales engineer must be able to listen to customers using astute questioning to understand and anticipate their needs. They must also be able to identify target markets and niche solutions for the companys products and services. Once relationships are established, the sales engineer must continue to develop and maintain a close relationship with potential customers and maintain a high level of continuous contact with existing customers. Sales Activities: Sales Engineers will also keep principals informed of sales activities, develop/generate new business, providing technical information and support to customers. This will include but not limited to pricing, quotations, negotiations, status of orders and forecasts keeping in mind our sales growth projections. The Sales Engineer will be responsible for the sale of products and/or services to commercial and industrial accounts; both direct and through distribution. Some of the specific activities may include: Persuading customers that Arbin Instruments products will best satisfy their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery through knowledge of the competitive advantages of the products. Must have strong product and application knowledge and be able to demonstrate this to existing or potential customers. Generate quotes and technical proposals and be able to present them. Negotiate tender and contract terms to meet the needs of the customer and company. Be able to close the sale through agreement of terms and conditions. The Sales Engineer will analyze the customers needs and prepare proposals and high-level designs to address specific customer requirements; keeping in mind the customers vision of the end result. The Sales Engineer position requirements travel. This includes presenting proposals to customers or visiting onsite to conduct live demonstrations of products. This will also include Trade Shows, as representatives of Arbin Instruments. Post-Sale Activities: This will include administering customer accounts and responding to and following up on all aftermarket inquires and sales. In addition, the sales engineer will co-coordinate sales project and help in the design of custom made products. They will also maintain an ongoing log of all customer feedback and act as a first line contact for all customer support issues that may arise; providing phone and email support to diagnose issues and/or route them to the appropriate personnel to resolve the issues. Planning: The Sales Engineer is responsible for identifying new accounts and program opportunities, setting account objectives and forecasting the sales. They will also be required to compile data on marketing trends, competitive products and pricing for management. In addition, make recommendations for new product development and technological trends. Others: Preparing monthly reports for sales managers and others as assigned by the Sales Manager. Maintain a positive company image in the market place. REQUIREMENTS Minimum of B.S. in Physical Science or Engineering Degree. Prefer someone with previous experience in technical sales or support. Strong sales/customer service background. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong technical and problem solving skills with the ability to communicate technical solutions and concepts in a clear, concise manner. Must be detail oriented with the ability to deal effectively with engineers, scientists and other technical personnel and can grasp technology concepts quickly and to be able to articulate business proposals. Results oriented, efficient, self-motivated, high-energy, meticulous with a strong work ethic.
